Preseason honors pour in for RED FLASH


LORETTO, Pa. (August 13, 2012) – The Saint Francis University women’s soccer team hauled in plenty of hypothetical hardware on Monday, despite not yet officially opening its 2012 season. Five Red Flash earned spots on the College Sports Madness preseason All-Northeast Conference team before the squad as a whole was selected as the NEC preseason favorite for the second year in a row.
Red-shirt junior forward Tesa McKibben (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) and junior defenderAlecia McNiff (Marietta, Pa./Donegal ) highlighted SFU’s haul from College Sports Madness earning offensive and defensive player of the year nods, respectively.  Ninth-year Flash head coach Brenda van Stralen was also tabbed as the preseason favorite to win her third consecutive Coach of the Year trophy.
McKibben, who opens the season in search of an unprecedented third NEC Player of the Year designation, was picked to the site’s first team along with McNiff and junior midfielderStephanie Boulter (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville).  Sophomores EloĆ” Nascimento (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Jose Maria Matosinho) and Mackenzie Walter (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) were both picked to the preseason second team. morehttp://pagirlssoccer.com/2012/08/15/preseason-honors-pour-in-for-red-flash/
